Just curious, is there a new version of DB40 anywhere on the horizon in the next few years, or is DB4O development effectly dead ?

Hi cl-r, thanks for the info link. However, I'm not trying to offend anyone but. German words were,

"Even though the release frequency has slowed down a bit db4o R&D has not stopped. The team behind db4o is going to continue development and support for the product under Actian"

So, according to German Viscuso. R&D has not stopped, the team behind db4o is going to continue development, and, I''ll add one here myself, Monach Butterflies gather every Spring in Mexico. What do all of the above in this paragraph have to do with future releases of DB40 ? Nothing.

Forgive me for saying this, but, it sounds like political speak. I saw absolutely nothing that said there would be future releases of DB40.

    I'm just a db4o enthusiast devlopper, nobody's perfect!

db4o is nearly complete and interesting in Embedded mode, above all with Java approach, with SODA query and Transparent Activation/Transparent Persistance.

Data arround 16 GB (after response time can decrease)

So, if you envisage to go bigger and bigger, you will replicate and merge different db4o containers in Versant database.

So you can have a look at Jira : http://tracker.db4o.com/secure/Dashboard.jspa to know projects/issues submitted.

    Best regards

    Claude

Thanks again Claude, I'm not pointing the figure at you.
But. Nothing in your last post addresses the issue of future DB40 releases.
I mean, why doesn't Versant, or, Actian just donate the project to one of the Apache groups.
In all honesty I see no future releases of DB4O anywhere on the horizon.
