Has the .NET support and C# API been removed in the latest version? I can't find anything about VOD .NET support on your website now. Nor can I find a.NET trial.

HI, I can confirm that the .NET support and the C# API have been removed from VOD with our 8.0.2 release. Instead, you may want to consider our db4o object database as it supports .NET. For more information about db4o 8.0 for .NET 4.0 and a link to a download please follow the URL: Your Versant Team

Why was .NET support dropped? Is there any more information on this? db4o is not a good option, due to its maximum size limitations. There was a limit of ~256 GB total data per class if I recall correctly.

Hi, Versant made the strategic decision to discontinue the development of its VOD.NET SDK and therefore this product is not being offered to new customers anymore. Versant assures that it is fully committed to support its existing VOD .NET customer base. Your Versant Team

It's 254GB per database as the maximum size. 254 gigabytes is an awfully large amount of data considering that a typical OS file is limited to 2 gigabytes.

If you don't mind me asking, what are you storing that you consider approximately 2^38 bytes a tight fit. Does all the data have to live within the database, or case some of the data exist as binary blobs inside the database file.

H Giles,
Sorry for the confusion. Can you please point us out to the technical datasheets wrongly referencing VOD .NET? We will correct it ASAP.
